Together, we can solve the clean water crisis in burundi.

and it all starts right here—with you.

Burundi needs us and we need you. Each fundraising event is an opportunity to connect our community in order to
transform the lives of another community in Burundi. The more united and involved we are, the more hope we can provide for people in dire need of our help.

Run for the water: NOVEMBER 3, 2019

Inspired by our founder, Gilbert Tuhabonye, Run for the Water is our premiere fall running fundraiser in Austin, TX and across the country. For each registration in the 10-Miler, 5K, the Gazelle Foundation is able to provide one more person in Burundi with access to clean drinking water for the rest of their life. Repeatedly named “Austin’s Best Race,” R4TW draws thousands of runners and walkers each year. Register, donate or volunteer today to make a difference. Check out our blog for updates on water systems.

On Going

Partnering with schools across Austin, the Gazelle Foundation helps middle school and high school students learn the importance of having access to clean water. Students create fundraising goals or compete with fellow classmates to raise money and build awareness for the Gazelle Foundation. The culmination of this experience is a “Walk for the Water” event where the students walk the distance traveled by most Burundians to fetch water from a nearby stream. Click here to learn about our partnership with the Academy of Global Studies at Austin High School. Schools that are not by a water source have used their creativity to raise awareness and funds, in other ways, such as LBJ/LASA. Have an idea? Let us know!

Not only is the Gazelle Foundation helping families and people in Burundi gain access to clean water, but they are instilling the importance of volunteering and helping others.

Become a Legend in Burundi

Want to be known in Burundi as the person who helped bring clean water to the people? Here’s how: use your own creativity to start a fundraising campaign. Ask donors to sponsor you for every mile you walk, run, or bike; post a donation link on social media for your birthday; or collect money in a water jug similar to what Burundians carry for hours each day.

Whatever fundraising idea you choose, we’ll support you however we can.
