Today, Austin Ear Nose and Throat Clinic, one of the leading ear, nose and throat clinics in Austin announced a partnership to sponsor the Water Hero Kids K at the Gazelle Foundation’s 13th annual Run For The Water event. The premier racing event attracts beginner and veterans alike and continues to inspire runners to lace up every year to help bring a crucial resource to people living on the other side of the globe.
Established in 1969, Austin Ear Nose and Throat Clinic has 13 physicians specializing in otolaryngologic pediatric and adult care and a combined eight locations to meet the needs of patients in the Greater Austin area including Bastrop, Lockhart, and Kyle. Sponsoring the Water Hero Kids K is a fitting way to support families, healthy lifestyle, and be an engaged part of the Austin Community.
"Partnerships like the one we have with the Austin Ear Nose and Throat Clinic are critical to making our mission possible, and we can't wait to see every Kids K participant in a Water Hero cape, having fun and moving to improve the lives of families on the other side of the globe," says Courtney Waldren, executive director of the Gazelle Foundation.
“Austin's expanding, it's a health, tech, and wellness oriented community, Gilbert Tuhabonye, our co-founder, is a local celebrity, who brilliantly inspires a whole generation of school kids and Austinites to exercise, and challenge themselves. Gilbert also embodies hope, generosity, and kindness. And that's what Run For The Water supports. We believe the Gazelle Foundation and Austin Ear Nose and Throat Clinic can do legendary things together. ” Says Peter Rauch, board president.

Gilbert Tuhabonye leads the Gazelle Foundation, and he is a renowned motivational speaker and local running coach. Gilbert is a survivor of genocide, having been locked in a burning building with 150 of his classmates during the civil war that plagued his country from the early ’90s to mid-2000s. The only one to escape, Gilbert used his running ability to eventually make it to the US, carry the Olympic torch in ’96, win multiple National Championships as a collegiate runner, and now give back to the Austin community through his Gilbert’s Gazelles training group, as the coach at St. Andrews High School, and the Gazelle Foundation. Naturally, he decided that a road race would be the Foundation's marquee event and fundraiser, the race has enjoyed a steady increase of participants and is a signature fall event in Austin.
