Welcome New Board Members

With this new year, we are pleased to welcome new board members to the Gazelle Foundation.

For over a decade, our board of directors has committed wholeheartedly to providing access to clean water for the people of Burundi. United in our mission, the board works each day to provide access to this basic and crucial resource.

We extend our deepest thanks to exiting board members, Christian Goy, Minnie Hollyman, and Quincy Lee whose efforts have made a profound impact on over 100,000 people in Burundi. Families are healthier, sanitation and hygiene are boosted, and the risk of water-borne infectious diseases is reduced. Rather than spending hours collecting water, children are healthy and able to attend school. Christian, Minnie, and Quincy have generously agreed to serve on our Advisory Committee.

Welcome New Gazelle Foundation Board Members

Danielle Sweeney is a physician with extensive global health experience, currently serving as Executive Director of IVU (International Volunteers in Urology). She has participated in several surgical workshops in Africa and has strong first-hand knowledge of the benefits and challenges of change-making in areas with limited access to resources. Prior to joining the Board, Danielle was involved with the Gazelle Foundation through her participation in Run For The Water. She connected with Gilbert around her medical work in Africa, and in learning more about the Gazelle Foundation, became deeply interested in furthering our mission. Danielle enjoys travel, music, food, running, and collaborating with like-minded individuals to support causes she cares deeply about.

Both IVU and the Gazelle Foundation concentrate their work in low resource areas around the world to help address some of the major causes of poverty - lack of clean water and lack of access to quality healthcare. My skill sets and experience will benefit The Gazelle Foundation in furthering their mission and programming. —Danielle Sweeney

Adam Reiser is a residential home builder who holds a JD from the University of Texas and MPH from the UT School of Public Health. He specializes in legal and government relations, as well as campaign management and strategic growth. A long-time runner and volunteer with Run For The Water, Adam believes strongly that access to clean water will only become more important in a changing climate. When he’s not helping change the world, he enjoys running, skiing, travel and reading about politics and history.

I am looking forward to helping continue the great work of the past with a vision for growth in the future. — Adam Reiser

Chad Whited is a physician specializing in otolaryngology with experience in medical research writing. Chad has participated in medical volunteer trips to El Salvador, Honduras, and Haiti and leads a panel of fellow otolaryngologists and speech therapists in an annual voice care workshop in support of the Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM). Chad also serves as a mentor to undergraduates, medical students, and surgical residents. Prior to joining the Board, Chad has participated in Run For The Water and served as a sponsor for the Run For The Water Kids K. In his free time, he enjoys running, live music, and spending time with his family.

My interest originated in supporting a friend’s legacy and has evolved into an interest in sustaining and growing one of Austin’s most important nonprofits serving a population in need. I look forward to growing support and awareness amongst Austin’s medical community. —Chad Whited
