Run For The Water

The race benefits the Gazelle Foundation, dedicated to providing clean water to the people of Burundi. Clean water provides a path out of poverty, bringing access to better health, stronger communities, jobs, education, and most of all: hope. For those who prefer to participate in a virtual event, our Global Run is available.

The Course

Experience the best of Austin running alongside the scenic Lady Bird Lake. From downtown to Tarrytown and from the hills to the water with a finish designed to be flat and speedy, this is a course for every runner.

All levels and abilities can find the perfect challenge at Run For The Water. Whether you’re new to running and looking to complete your first 5K, or ready to level up and tackle a longer distance to test your speed and endurance, our 10-miler is for you.

Our Kids K is a highlight with kids of nearly every age participating as Foundation Co-Founder and Coach Gilbert invites each young person to race him around the course as children follow in face paint, capes, and laughter.

Run For The Water is full of fun for the entire family. Where else can you run to help a fellow family on the other side of the world gain access to clean water?

Mothers and children fetch clean water from a new water system built by the Gazelle Foundation. Now clean water is easy to access because it’s close to where people live, work, and attend school. Money we raise from the race is invested in sustainable water systems that are low-tech and high-impact.

Still not sure? See some of the photos from last year’s race, and see why so many runners, walkers, and families make Run For The Water an annual tradition.
