The Gahanda-Rwego Water Project will bring clean water to 2,750 people. Currently the local inhabitants walk significant distances to obtain water from small springs and water pools that are not clean. When complete the project will have 11 tap stands (fountains) spread over 5.5 kilometers.
Ngabwe-Gikuyo Extension Water System #50
Construction on the Ngabwe-Gikuyo Extension water system is complete!
We are pleased to announce that construction on the Ngabwe-Gikuyo Extension Water system began in September 2018 and finished in January 2019. This extension project refurbished the existing system and added new storage tanks and tap stands increasing the capacity and access to clean water for this thriving community that includes a primary school, college and church. This system is located near a primary school and a university, which means students have access to a clean and abundant supply of water.
Joy! Water for 3,800 More People
With great joy, we announce the completion of three more water systems. The handover to local residents means 3,800 more people have access to as much water as they need.
For perspective that's water for more people than the number of students enrolled at several Austin area high schools: Austin High School 2,262, Del Valle High School 3,003, Lake Travis High School 2,699, Vandegrift High School 2,257, Westlake High School 2,655.
