An Update from the Field: Our current projects
An Update from the Field: Our current projects
We are excited to share the latest updates from our two current projects, fully funded at the 2017 Spring for the Water. Thank you for helping us transform lives forever.
Women at the Karuhaya-Kuntatemwa project celebrate the completion of the first tap stand. Women and children are usually tasked with fetching water for their families and are most impacted by the completion for a water system.
An Update from the Field: Recently Completed Projects
In January 2017, our board of directors approved eight water projects to be completed by the end of year, which will impact 18,250 people in Burundi. To date, we have completed two projects and currently have three projects under construction. We are excited to share updates from the field on our current projects!
Spring for the Water 2017: Two Projects Completely Funded!
We did it! We raised more than $125,000 making this year’s Spring for the Water the most successful in the history of the event! Because of the amazing generosity of our sponsors and attendees, we have completely funded the Muryamurebe-Kigembe Project, which will provide clean water to 2,800 people AND we also completely funded the Karuhaya-Kuntatemwa Water Project, which will provide clean water to another 1,800 people.
Walk for the Water: Thank you, Austin High!
We are so grateful to the Academy for Global Studies (AGS) students at Austin High School for supporting the Foundation through their 2nd annual Walk for the Water event. This year’s event took place on March 10th. AGS students fetched water from Ladybird Lake and then set off for a 3 mile walk on the trail carrying water jugs to represent the average distance that people in developing countries walk in order to get water (often this water is contaminated and barely drinkable).

Kumutukura-Gisasa Extension Water System #21
We are pleased to announce that construction on the Kumutukura-Gisasa extension water system began on May 15, 2015, on the same day as two previous projects were completed. The Project will extend an existing water project that was not accessible to this community. This improvement will greatly improve the population’s health and well-being.
Kadende-Kanugano Water System #20
Construction on the Kadende-Kanugano water system began February 15, 2015 in conjunction with the Manyoni water system. It also has an estimated completion date of May 2015.
The project will serve approximately 1800 people from the general population, including the Kanugano Primary School and the Kanugano Anglican church.
